Self-host

Runs on your servers, with your model key

DurbarAI is three services: a Python API, a Next.js web app and PostgreSQL. Run them with Docker Compose on one host or on Kubernetes with kustomize. Your documents, runs and audit log stay in your database, and model calls go to the provider you choose with your own key.

What does a deployment look like?

  • Docker Compose: a production Compose file runs the API, the web app and PostgreSQL together.
  • Kubernetes: kustomize manifests describe the same services for a cluster you run.
  • Models: set the provider and model per deployment. Anthropic and OpenAI are the ones we price and test.
  • Tracing: runs emit OpenTelemetry GenAI spans to the collector you point them at.

How do people and systems reach the agents?

People use the web app. Your product calls the REST API, which can stream a run as server-sent events. A web widget puts an agent on a page of your own site, and a Slack channel connects one to a workspace. Email relay only logs messages unless you configure it.

What does production mode enforce?

With the environment set to production, DurbarAI requires authentication, refuses placeholder secrets and keys shorter than 32 characters, and requires https public URLs.

Not yet: we do not publish container images, so you build them from source. There is no packaged chart for Kubernetes package managers, and agents cannot yet be embedded as an in-process code dependency; use the REST API.

Questions people ask

What do I need to run it?

Docker, plus PostgreSQL (included in the Compose file). The API is Python 3.13; the web app is Next.js. For Kubernetes, kustomize manifests are in the repository.

How do people reach the agents?

Through the web app, the REST API (the complete channel, with streaming), an embeddable web widget, or Slack. Email relay logs messages only by default. We have not yet shown the Slack and widget channels against a live customer workspace.

Does it support single sign-on?

OIDC sign-on and SCIM provisioning are implemented but not yet tested against a real identity provider. There is no multi-factor sign-in yet.
